HS code lookup tool
Find a 6-digit HS starting point for your product.
Search a product name, material or tariff number in the USITC 2026 HTS Revision 21 index. Read the HS-6 prefix in each result, then check the national tariff schedule for your destination.

From a product description to a six-digit HS prefix
Start with the product and facts that distinguish it: material, principal function, construction and composition. Compare the full descriptions of several matches. A shared word is a reason to investigate a candidate, not a classification decision.
Read the number at the right level
- 4 digits: heading. For example, 8471 is a broad group of data-processing machines. It is not a complete six-digit HS code.
- 6 digits: HS subheading. The 847130 prefix is a starting point for portable data-processing machines described in that subheading. Product facts and legal notes must still match.
- 8–10 digits: national tariff detail. This tool shows U.S. HTS lines. Another country may use different extensions and rates.
Can I use this result for any country?
Use the six-digit prefix as a research starting point, then consult the destination country's schedule. Do not copy a full U.S. HTS number or its duty rate into a declaration for another country. U.S. exports use Schedule B, which must be checked separately.
Does “Free” mean there are no import charges?
No. General duty is one published column. Origin, preferential eligibility, Chapter 99 measures and fees can change what applies to a shipment. Open the official HTS and relevant CBP rulings from the result before quoting or filing.
Is this search free?
Yes, with no registration. For multiple products, Bulk Lookup handles up to 100 rows free. For an enriched CSV with three candidates and review flags per valid row, review the US$119 catalog pass.
